About Carling on draught

Carling was the best-selling draught lager in Britain for decades and it is still the pint most people in Yorkshire grew up on. Brewed in Burton upon Trent at 4 per cent, it is light, clean and a little sweet, built to be drunk by the pint on a long night rather than sipped. If you want a keg that will be emptied with no complaints, this is it.

A 50 litre keg of Carling pours about 88 pints. Carling Premier, the smoother version, also comes in a 50 litre keg. Both are fine kept cold and under gas for weeks, so a garden bar can work through one over a summer.

What you need to pour Carling

  • Coupler: Carling kegs take a G-type coupler, the flat-topped Grundy fitting Molson Coors uses. It is not interchangeable with the S-type on most other lagers.
  • Tap: A standard lager tap.

Carling questions

Does a Carling keg use the same coupler as other lagers?

No. Carling, Madri and the other Molson Coors kegs use a G-type coupler. Most other lagers use an S-type. If you are running your own kit in Rotherham and have an S-type, you will need a G-type for Carling, which is on the price list under Parts and accessories.

How many pints are in a Carling keg?

A 50 litre keg is about 88 pints. For a party of 40 having two or three pints each, one keg is usually right. The product page has a calculator for your guest numbers.
